Rose, age 16, is a Teen Battle Chef student at Urban Assembly of Music and Art in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Haiti and moved to the U.S. when she was 7 years old. She is also the oldest child in her family by 13 years!
Some of her favorite foods include steak burritos and vegetarian sushi. While Rose is sometimes hesitant to try new foods, her philosophy is "You can never know if something is good unless you try it".
When Rose is older, she wants to be a cosmetologist and a pediatrician. In the meantime, we love having her in the kitchen creating beautiful dishes! Her taco was crafted with shrimp, cilantro, basil, mango, and chipotle mayo. She took the extra time and effort to layer her ingredients in a striking pattern and garnish the top of the taco with a piece of chipotle pepper!

Chefs used recipe templates to plan their tacos and to guide them to make a balanced, healthy dish.
The chefs even took a stab at making fruit tacos! This one was made with a spiced yogurt sauce, sautéed apples, strawberries, mango, and granola!

Kelcey, age 15, is a 10th grade Teen Battle Chef student at Urban Assembly of Music and Art in Brooklyn, NY. She has 5 sisters, 1 brother, and a passion for dance, fashion, and food.
Some of her favorite foods include tacos, pasta, and chili. In addition to her favorites, Kelcey told us "I'm adventurous with eating and trying new foods because I love food & trying new things makes my passion for food more exciting".
Kelcey's tasty taco featured shrimp, black beans, peppers, and roasted tomato salsa. She garnishes the taco with some chili powder for an extra KICK!

In honor of Food Day 2014, FamilyCook Productions hosted a special event for current and former Teen Battle Chefs. The chefs were tasked with creating a unique taco dish that everyone in their family could enjoy, adults and children alike!
